From Retraction to Rubber Dam, Isolation for the Dental Assistant
Dental dam placement is one method used to isolate teeth that are going to be restored. After the patient has received the anesthetic, the dental dam is prepared and placed. The dental assistant assists the dentist in the placement or places the dental dam before the dentist begins to prepare the tooth. The dam can be placed to isolate one tooth or one or more quadrants.
